Serious about Facebook

Good news everyone! You can now find me (my art at least) on FACEBOOK! YEY!

I first created a Facebook ‘page’ when they first introduced the “pages” option back in my uni days, but took it down shortly after as i thought it would make me seme like a total douche. But now i have created a new one. I want to share my work people, and Facebook will let me do that. So it really is ‘YEY!’

At uni it seemed pretentious to create an artist page, i mean who did i think i was? Damian Hirt? Some people thought i had done it as a joke. But not thins time. Im serious about my work – so im serious about Facebook.

In other news: Im thinking about water-colours. Seriously.

Now like me on facebook:

Muuuuuuu, my Western Digital Media player has not arrived yet!!! WHERE ARE YOU???? Bill ordered the same day as me, and he has gotten his, maybe its coming today! it better doooo! And so does my projector!

we are taking my plinth to uni on monday, and i want to have it ready by then! I need the projector to make the hole in the plinth, but if its not here today we have to guestimate the hole!

Anyway, i got an email form Bill about the media player, and he mentioned that it does not have a loop button, so i did some research and found out that the looping only works if its the only thing on the hard drive, so basically it will loop everything on the harddrive. So that means i have to empty out a hard drive, luckily i have a few spare!!

Anyway in the same forum i found out that the media player appears to play H.264 best, as they are smaller files, so with some difficulty and help of this tutorial i am exporting another version of my film. And i might do another one at a different frame rate later too, just so i can find out what looks best!

I hat ordered my Ben Q HD w1000 projector, it will be on its way to me soon, soon it will be in my arms and i can hug it!

But the major issue has been the play back of my massive HD file, mini macs are too slow, tower macs are too big, blu ray to much money and dvd to low res, but there was a solution, and its a prefect one:$ja=tsid:11518|cc:|prd:7977460|cat:Hard+Drives

THE WESTERN DIGITAL HD TV MEDIA PLAYER! It plays everything, pretty much! I just connect an external hard drive to the box, and connect the box to the projector, i found other artists that have done the same, they said it was great, and it loops, im not sure how to get it too but it loops!

Ill still need to compress my video a little but thats fine, cuz its cheap, it can play all my other movies too (i copied a lot of my dvds some years back when someone told me that dvds only last 10 years…)
its hd, its little, its WONDERFUL!!!!

happy happy happy!

it will be here in a weeks time!

Oh dear, it never ends, everything i think i have a solution it gets pulled away from me!

Bill went to the IT place at uni today to try and play the hd video from the mini macs, and it was not very great, it freezes up a little, and is not very smooth, so ill need a stronger computer, or come up with something else!

or i can just listen to Bill, who suggested we get dcd player that play hd, ei dvd players with a hdmi connection! it might woooork!!! Will do some more research!

Oh and we had another meeting today, lots of good stuff sorted and lots left to do! ill update the final show page later!

Render break!

I have a render break every few hours now, i should use that time to write my essay but im not! Im blogging and looking up prices and generally being proactive about everything else!

But its ok!

I have a plan! (and a routine!)

Every night i do a low quality render of my film, some i put here, some i dont bother with. Then i watch the video about 3 times with a note book, and write down all that i wanna change, then i do the changes and render again, that way it will be perfect!

I m almost done now, im doing a few more stop motion animations, of some gem stones luke leant me, and butterflies, and some plastic bugs, they will be done today and then ill change it some more tomorrow, befor hopefully on wednesday i start the full quality render.

Also on wednesday my money should be here, and i will buy my precious projector! Luke called the apple help ppl and they said once i connect my old laptop to the projector new resolutions should come up and it might be able to play HD!!! that way i wont have to borrow uni computer, tho i would feel better with a mini mac!! I will wait and see, and also there is a danger that my laptop will not pass the test that they do on the equipment! Time will tell!

I have decided to build a plint for my projector, it will hide the projector so that no one wants to steal it, and it will also hide the computer! Ill paint it neatly white and make it from MDF with the help of Luke, and it will have shelves inside for the projector and the computer, and a door at the back. And on top i can put the postcards! Im getting very excited!

OH AND WE HAVE A TWITTER soon i will make an email account that we can send the invites from!

Later today i will add some video and some photos!

YEY!! And Buuuh:(

I did a 5min full speed fullt quality render of my film and i really really like it, its good to watch! 5 minutes took about 5 hours, so im looking at about 40 hours, maybe i little more, pretty good tho!

I had a chat to Andy today also, and that was pretty good too, possessive things being said!

Also today Mike for D-fuse came to talk to us, i asked him about my project and he told me that making Blu Rays is really really much money! like £500 or more, and i was not planning on it being that much! SO he suggested i should go back to the mac mini idea, but Bill says the that IT guy says that the mac minis are not very good with HD, so ill have to do some research on that stuff. Im gonna email Mike and ask for help, and he said he would get in touch with some guy who might be able to help me play HD from the MACmini!

Tonight im going to free range again, thins week its photography, and among others my old uni is there, the place that gave us ppl like partin parr, and pretty much no one else!

yey tho, free wine and culture!
