For this years Metric Collective Pop Up shop on Columbia Road I created two brand new digital prints.
AND HERE THEY ARE!:
I have named them Untitled Portal Blue & Untitled Portal Red – very creative, i know.
Both have a fish scale background, Red Snapper and Mackerel if you are interested. The symmetry is more complex then my pervious and contains of multiple layers.
Usually my circular print like this are more random, I never start out thinking what would be the centre and how it might look after i have mirrored it… this time however i had a plan. I wanted something that would look like a portal or a sphere when seen from afar, something a little more 3 dimensional. I went from dark to light, not just in colour but also in subject matter… slugs, bugs and worms in the dark, and flowers and butterflies in the light. I might revers these one day, use some lovely white slugs etc.
Printed them on 20×30″, on lovely velvety photorag. It makes the backs look stunning.
Might post some details in the future.
Blog be rather dead lately. Im sorry. There were two busses involved … pictures to come.
I have been doodling with something tho… water colours. I stopped painting during my first year of my fine art degree, thats what art school does to you, but i got bored of not painting. I figured water colours would be the best/worst/kitschy/retro/safest way to return to it. Water colours are for old people and landscape painters (who are old) so therefore it is safe – it doesn’t mean anything, its not serious, and i am not a painter because of it (i dont want to be a painter, never did).
Its tricky business tho – I learned it at school, every stroke has to be thought about, there is very little room for error, you cant just wait til it drys and paint over is.
ANYWAYS… I painted something, scanned it, live paint, embed, delete, delete, delete, group, duplicate, reflect, duplicate, reflect, duplicate, reflect, multiply…
Luke likes it, what more can i ask for?
I posted some butterfly work by Kristjana S Williams yesterday, so i thought id share some of my work with similar imagery (altho still quite different)
Started this drawing yesterday and finished it these last few hours while watching south park. if you look for them there are accidental owls in the mirrored piece that i never set out to make! Thinking it would look blown up to A1 or similar. Its got lots of tiny details, like the eyeballs.
This is the original drawing (upsidedown but whatever)
and this is the finished thing (maybe)
it may be attacked by colour fine liners tomorrow morning. But im not sure…
So ages a go i had an exhibition in norway and most of the work i did was documented here, but i never got around to showing the final resutl, so here are a few pics from the show, and more can be found on my flickr account.

I’m nearly there now, a bit of retouching and a few more pieces of meat and its done… But after that i have to figure out what to do with the background and how to make it bigger, i really wanna fill the wole wall but it would be remarkably cheaper and easier to settle for a A0 – B0 ish sized print… That way i dont have to make it it 4 individual bits too… hmmmm…. will do some experiments and see… anyway here it is NEARLY THERE!!!
UPDATE!!!: Hurrah! I’m pretty much done now, i’m not sure how the money situation will affect the work, and the fact that i somehow have to take it to norway… will make a decision like next week ish. So this is pretty much what it would look like on the big wall if i use the whole wall (cutting off a bit of the sides, it looked stupid filling the whole space) i might do it in 4 bits but i was thinking that maybe to A0’s might work, but then im nt sure how to fit that in my luggage…
